I chose this article because I strongly support non-profits and their mission to make a difference in something they care about. Non-profits are becoming American management leaders and doing what a majority of businesses preach about doing. Did you know that the nonprofit sector was America’s largest employer? With the amount of volunteers and hours work duplicated to 10 million full time jobs. This is only something that will continue to blossom through the future. â€Å"The best management practice and most innovative methods now come from The Girl Scouts and The Salvation Army.† The Salvation Army is making extreme impacts that are benefits to several parties. â€Å"The Salvation Army has rehabilitated first time offenders of crime that were convicted to break the cycle of habitual criminals through a strict work program. They restore 80% of approximately 25,000 men and women each year and this program only costs a fraction of the costs it would be to keep them b ehind bars.† Underlying America’s nonprofits is a pledge to management. Throughout the course of time nonprofits began to realize they need management more than commercial business does. All nonprofits start with good intentions. Although, they still pride on doing good they have identified the need for association and management, accountability and performance results. This in turn restructured the establishment’s mission.
